Observation Area Expanded By 50 Times Under The Same High Magnification
Unlike conventional methods, which perform stitching after capturing all images using a motorized stage, we have developed a completely new image stitching algorithm. When the user shifts the field of view using a manual stage, the area is stitched together in real time. The field of view can be expanded from a normal field (1600 x 1200 pixels) to 10000 x 10000 pixels at maximum, while the high-magnification sharpness is maintained.
The real-time image stitching function has the advantages of both low and high magnification observation.
A 3D image is built based on 3D depth information obtained from the amount of out-of-focus blurring. Our low magnification lenses boast a large depth of field, making it impossible to distinguish different layers of focus. Consequently, it was impossible to construct a 3D profile at low magnification. By stitching together higher magnification 3D images, we are able to decipher the depth information over a large field of view. This algorithm has allowed for macro-level 3D compilations.
Once data in the z direction is obtained within the initial field of view, the "Z" positioning of the next section is determined through live pattern-matching algorithms. This method is critical in achieving a manual 3D image stitch.
