With 21 megapixel cameras able to capture images at 9 frames per second, inspections can be performed over a much larger field-of-view while still detecting fine details and maintaining the required production yield rates.
Using a profile laser allows the CV-X vision system to extract defects or features like raised or embossed characters on long or fast moving parts. By simply clicking on a reference height, the 3D height information is converted into a gray scale image, allowing existing vision tools to detect features that are impossible to see with standard 2D cameras.

With an area camera, stable character recognition is difficult due to variations in background conditions and poorly defined edges. Using 3D height information, the background can be distinguished clearly from characters.
3D inspection makes it possible to identify markings and detect stains like a traditional camera, but can also detect small dents on the metal shield.
3D measurement, including height, area, and volume, are also available with the CV-X Series vision system.
