WHAT IS THE IM?

The IM Series Image Dimension Measurement System is a visual inspection system that performs measurements in place of optical comparator, caliper/micrometer, measuring microscope, optical CMM, laser measurement, contracer, gauges and other measuring systems. The IM series brings the metrology lab closer to the production line. The IM is ideal for off-line part inspection or can be placed on the shop floor directly by the production line.
WHAT DO PEOPLE MEASURE?

Common measurement applications are: springs (any type), stamped parts, plastics, rings, gears, bottles, blind holes, threads, wires, molds, turned parts, extrusion profiles, PCB desks and more.
Thanks to the advanced lens system inside of the IM we can measure even transparent materials. The sub-pixel processing together with high magnification helps to measure even the smallest parts (e.g. in mechanical watches). Innovative light probe measurement allows you to measure edges at a certain height and makes it easier to detect difficult edges. Combine up to 9 rotations to do runout measurement on shafts and experience GD&T as easy as it is only possible with Keyence.

WHY DO PEOPLE USE IT?

Conventional measurement devices such as calipers have common problems: measurements take a long time, varying measurement results depending on the operator, limited amount of skilled employees who can set up and operate the devices, costly trainings for the users and complicated data management.
With the digital profile projector users will discover an innovative instrument that can reduce a 10 minutes job to just 3 seconds. The IM is a measuring robot which will reduce human error out of repetitive measuring tasks. Since the whole measurement routine is automated together with focus and lighting, no matter who operates the machine, it will give back always consistent results.
WHAT MAKES THE KEYENCE IM SERIES UNIQUE?

Up to 99 measurements can be performed on one part in just 3 seconds or measure 99 objects at the same time with the accuracy of ±1 micron, while all measurement results are being automatically recorded. This drastically reduces user time compared to conventional measuring devices (such as measuring microscope or profile comparators, contracers or 3D coordinate), and helps the users in analyzing and creating professional measuring reports in few clicks. Its operation does not require special skills and expensive trainings. The Digital Profile Projector is a very cost and time efficient solution compared to conventional profile projectors, measuring microscopes or CMMs – it is the next level in quality assurance.
