LED Lighting Vision System Peripheral Equipment CA-D Series

Coaxial Lights (Vertical)Coaxial vertical illumination emits light on the same axis as the camera and lens.

Coaxial light illumination techniques

The coaxial light transmits light from the side onto a half way mirror. The mirror reflects the light onto the target. Specular reflected light is allowed to pass back up to the camera whereas diffuse reflected light from the target is rejected. This in turn causes a contrast at the edge points of a target.
In addition, the further the light is from the target the greater the rejection of diffused light becomes, creating greater image contrast and definition.

Camera/light arrangement

Application

Pressed part

With standard lighting

Edges are not clear as diffuse and specular light is received by the camera.

With coaxial light

The recessed areas diffuse light so they appear dark and the edges can be easily identified.

Screw head

With standard lighting

Various light components are reflected at all alignments causing inconsistent images from part to part.

With coaxial light

The change from curved to flat is clearly identified and the flat area is highlighted well to the camera.

Metal processed parts

With standard lighting

Marking is unclear.

With coaxial light

The edges of the marking are clearly defined.

Glass parts

With standard lighting

Specular reflection causes lights to appear on the glass surface.

With coaxial light

Uniform illumination is possible.
